The total HW owned is 194. The total SW owned is 2,386.
360
14% of total HW was 360. This is the lowest of all current gen HW in my survey. With an attach ratio of 11, this is joint first with the Wii for consoles. 360 owners buy the most games joint first with the Wii.
This was initially what I predicted when I started this survey, that although the VGChartz community was made up of Nintendo and Sony exclusive fans, the handful of 360 owners own more games. However I am surprised by the Wii numbers.
Wii
31% of total HW was Wii. This is the highest of all current gen HW. With an attach ratio of 11, this is joint first with the 360 for consoles.
When you read current market reports, the Wii has always reported to have the lowest attach ratios and comments indicating fans buy it as a novelty and only very few games. Well, the VGChartz community clearly captures the 'hardcore' Nintendo fans.
(Interestingly, a whopping 48% (29/60) of all Wii owners own the Wii as their only console. This is followed by 37% for PS3 (13/35) and only 11% for 360 (3/28). Beginning to understand why 360 threads are usually 'flamebait' in a matter of seconds on VGChartz and theres a thread on how PS3 beat 360 every week.)
PS3
18% of total HW was PS3. With an attach ratio of 9, this is the lowest of all HW. PS3 owners own less games that other consoles in VGChartz and its obviously due to the fact that the big games are only now starting to trickle in. PlayStation brand equity is clearly strong on VGChartz, especially since there are so many exclusive PS3 owners compared to the lowest attach ratio, evem though the games line-up is relatively thin.
Could have extended this to handhelds but I was more interested in the consoles.
