| Guitarguy said: I'm not certain if Nintendo view Mario 3d world as a true 3D Mario title like Super Mario 64, Sunshine and Galaxy. If they do, chances are that we won't see another true 3D Mario title on the Wii U given how badly it is selling. The Wii go two full blown 3D Mario games(Galaxy I & II) whilst the N64 and the Gamecube only received one each(Super Mario 64 and Sunshine, respectively). In my opinion this was due to the low sales of the N64 and Gamecube, it simply was not worth the man-power to make another full fledged 3D Mario. This was not the case with the Wii which was selling insanely at the time and had a very large user base. Probably smarter to dedicate those developers to finishing up the Wii U incarnation of Zelda... |
install base has nothing to do with why Wii got two 3D Mario's and N64/GC only got one. Mario 64 sold more than Galaxy on 1/3 the install base so that rules out your theory.
i think it was Miyamoto who said they had so many ideas for Galaxy but they didnt have enough time to incorporate them all so they made a sequel.
