Very true! ^_^ There is also the matter of pent up preorders that helped the sales boost. However, the aforementioned deal- which I think ranged from one free game, to two free games, to two free games and some kind of online coupon, depending on what and where you bought it- did give the Xbox One a solid 'plus' in the comparison of which to buy for Destiny. Before the free game week was announced, there was pretty much no reason to get an Xbox One with Destiny as the primary motivation, given the PS4 option was slightly cheaper, and had the extra content. I do believe the free game week did level the playing field a little bit, by giving the Xbox One a solid 'value advantage' for that week that made the choice of the 'better' Destiny offering less clear cut. (basically the question of more content versus lower price.)
anyway, my point to him largely was that it's really only unremarkable when a true exclusive game that sells well boosts sales. Because then it's blatantly obvious, if the game is super popular, and you can't play that game anywhere else, of course you are going to buy x console to play it... I think it's when small advantages, like the bit of extra content, or marketing, or other factors that may have more effect on the perception of the product than the actual product itself, that sales boosts are notable.
I'm not yet a Destiny gamer, so I am actually curious, for anyone who's played the PS4 version, how meaty is that extra content compared to the rest of the game?
