See, it's even less than that.  Can we honestly say that 'most' gamers prefer PS4 to Xbox One?  Most gamer's haven't moved on from last gen, so who the heck knows (Yeah, it's splitting hairs, but...trying to be fair here).  What we can say is right now, the PS4 seems to be overwhelmingly more popular, and that NPD supports that perception.  His issues is he's not providing any kind of reference, citation, links etc... to substantiate anyone questioning the veracity of NPD's figures.

You have ~25 million gamers in the current gen... ~12 million choose PS4, 7 million Wii U and 6 million Xbone... I call that most because 12 >>>>>>> 7 > 6.

So most gamers are perfer the PS4.

It is not even an assumption from my part... it is a fact.

Can it change? Of course but right now PS4 continue to be the most choosen console.

Don't get me wrong, overall I agree with you, but until we have 100 million people moved to the current gen, don't you think it's a tad premature to simply make a blanket statement like that?  Right now, most gamer's buying new hardware prefer the PS4, that's absolutely correct.  But, is it fair to say all gamer's prefer PS4 over XB1? (Just trying to be fair...maybe too fair...not sure).
