If, hypothetically, Nintendo were to buy the ip the game itself would only be able to START production after that aquisition. Games take usually 2-3 years or more to make and so, because of that, I think Banjo 3 would be a better launch title for the Thwii than it would be as a swan song game for the Wii U.
