Is there a chance of Nintendo getting 3rd party support in the future?

They won't, at least not the ones western AAA devs want them to check. They'll sooner buy/build their own western studios than they are to do some of the stuff that X1/PS4 have done in the process of courting these mega-publishers and their studios.

Of course, by next gen, I don't really expect the AAA model to even still be a thing aside from a burning tire fire.

 

I disagree I think nintendo could have released a wii u at a higher price with the same power as the xbox one and it wouldnt be selling any less at all. I know its basically the gamecube model but that model at least had high third party support and was surely more profitable than the wii u. 

Even with the GC. Nintendo still had issues on the tech side. And their image. Lunchbox, inferior mini discs. Still caused them to suffer with matching power. We haven't had a Nintendo system since the SNES where everything is matched, and have no issues on the elements.
