It is a fact that Nintendo has done more to innovate gaming, either via their systems/controllers, or through games like SMB, Zelda, Metroid, Mario Kart, Mario 64, OoT, etc. etc., than any other single company in the history of the medium.

Of COURSE other companies have innovated and added as well. It's just that it's not even close, when you count up all the innovations "The Big N" has made over the decades.

I diasgree as Sony has been the most innovatice since the 3D age and that's a fact. Nintendo was the most in the 2D age argubly, because Sega was very innovative and had a download service from the cable company for the Genesis. The PS is why we play games the way we do today with the EyeToy giving birth to the Wii. The wii style games were influenced by EyeToy games. Another thing SMB borrowed a lot from the side scrolling Pacman games of the early 80s. Look it up and you will see that SMB is not as original as people think. Innovation changes things though, but most of what Nintendo did changed nothing or improved it. See the power glove and other failed devices that were a first. THings like analogs and shoulder buttons were a natural progression as was CD-ROM so you can not give anyone credit for those things. Nintendo did not invent the analog or rumble technology no more than Sony invented DVD or usb ports for consoles though they had them first and was the first with dual analogs and four shoulder buttons.

Also the Sega Saturn had an analog stick first.
