Don't forget the different pricing models though. On PS, Xbox and PC Nintendo could charge £40 per game and sell millions. On phones and tablets they would probably have to sell at about £1 per game to sell a comparable amount. |
Nintendo can get away selling their games for 30$ again. Especially if it gets great reviews. They just need to make an official statement they will drop their hardware business and focus on what they do best - making quality games. If reviewers rate the game highly, Nintendo fans have no where to go but to buy these games on those devices. And you can bet Google will put these games on the front of their android store.
They can even take the "freemium" approach with some games. A 2D Mario games has 8 worlds and a special world. Pay 30$ for all of them. If not pay a ninth of the full price for one world. And if they want the toad shop with items to reappear (disappears after one use and reappears after you lose all lives), they can pay $1.
A lot of people already have an Android cell phone, so the only issue is trusting the reviewers and Nintendo their games will still be high quality on a different platform.
