Look man, reality is that no one is going to suddenly trade in their XB1 and PS4 just to buy a Wii U for one game, no matter how praised. Heck, people aren't going to buy the Wii U period. It's the most odd console-game relationship that has ever existed. Also the most controversial for obvious reasons. 

 

The right thing is to port the game they funded to another console? I don't think the 3DS can run the game.
