Wii showed it off at TGS in September 2005. Dreamcast had a motion control fishing rod.

Wii remote had six Axis as well plus the accelerometer. Oh and this came ou in 1999

Six axis did for actual gaming what Xbox Live did for online gaming. It did it right. The same goes for camera motion tracking.
