Do you think Nintendo learned from the name confusion?

They better have. It's also not just naming though; it's how you brand your system and advertise it as well. The Wii U was advertised with Wii Remotes in its initial commericals and they only showed the GamePad at E3, which caused most of the confusion we see today. The name itself isn't the problem all on its own, it's how it was marketed.
