Oh be serious. You know install base vs game sales and pre-orders don't work that way. Besides the Halo fanbase makes out at 12 million so for the purposes of any halo game you can ignore 70 million xb 360 owners right away. And you also know that pre-orders are not a function of install base because people who don't own a console also pre-order games.

Hang on, does the pre-order chart count bundles? If yes then the pre-order chart does look pretty bad. If no then the pre-order chart is meaningless.

You are being way too generous with 12 million. Halo fanbase tops out at max. 8 million. The numbers are somewhat skewed by heavy bundling of Halo 3 later in its lifecycle, it was that and Halo 3+ODST with all multiplayer map bundles that were sold to all console buyers, so much that used copies were worth less than 5€ because of oversupply.

Halo is a franchise, like all other XBox cornerstone franchises, that is on a decline, both in consumer interest and in quality, and to think that it will all of a sudden attract a whole new batch of fans is not very probable. MCC will sell well because it is a good value, but predominantly to current XOne users, because X360 users hardly have an incentive to buy it when they already have 75% of the package available.

We will most likely see a further decline of the Halo series, with Halo 5 being the worst seller in the franchise, as that 8 million fanbase will shrink even further by either moving to PS4 or growing out of gaming.
