Well aside from the last gen, Pokemon has been doing this "3rd version" from decades now. Also, this isn't really news in Level-5 since Inazuma Eleven 3 had the same treatment.

Hope Level5 knows what they are doing

Add to that they have the anime and manga. They need to pace it out or it will end up like Inazuma.
