This thread is kind of weird. It's sort of like asking "Has not drinking Water made you really thirsty and appreciate Water more?"
You have met more players in your life because the lack of social options in game forces you to do this! Okay you met 120 + more players? Do you really game and talk to ALL THOSE players you friend requested?? Tell you the truth, WoW had me meeting people from California in PERSON, befriended a young girl that lives in Australia, I dated a Girl I met on WoW, had dinner with other gamers in RL that traveled from NJ, made friendships all over the 5 boroughs in NYC with other WoW players, and the seeds of how all this started? TEXT CHAT! I still talk to my ex (married now), still game with the guy I met in California, and the young Girl from Australia I gamed with is a young adult now and adapted a nickname I used to call her (her name was Linda, but I named her Lyndis or Lyn for short, after my favorite Fire Emblem character at the time) and we keep in touch on FB.
Before I used Vent, it was all TEXT! Even that nickname wouldn't be as memorable when she saw that "Y" instead of the "I" in her name if it wasn't for text chat.
Reasons why I gave all those examples is because I wanted to prove the power of a simple thing like text. It would only amplify social interaction with gamers in Destiny. You talked about politics in voice chat with fellow Brazilian players? Okay... On WoW, they used to talk about this on the trade chat so everyone can see it, and people would join in (I'd be annoying since Trade Chat is only supposed to be used for TRADING but I didn't mind). Also, people would talk about stupid Miscellaneous but funny things (I remember when the movie 300 came out, their was a craze in my WoW server and EVERYONE was spamming movie quotes, and during raids, they would quote Leonidas quote after slaying the boss). This was epic! Everyone was connected and involved, and although I didn't have a list of 120 fellow WoW players in my friends list, I had about 30 that I would consider REALLY close.
This is not even mentioning the Impact it has on finding Groups for raids, stages, and other gameplay features. Also guild chat? Where you can connect with your whole guild and have discussion with 500+ something members? And you say this would make Destiny less social??
Tell you the truth I don't think you have been Brainwashed. If you truly adore Destiny, cu-dos to you, finding a game you truly love and can't wait to play after a hard days work is certainly a great feeling. But to say that Text chat or other social mechanics would make this game LESS social is like saying a car won't run better with premium gas so it's best to stick with unleaded.
