I don't really care for it when the worlds they're coming from are highly different. It feels jarring and it breaks the suspension of disbelief. It's not a big deal but there is still this voice in the back your head going, "this is stupid."
Soul Calibur is a good example. Playing as a ninja or samurai against Darth Vader felt off.
