Having had a night to sleep on this, my position has changed. I can understand the anger and the motive to take the 'obvious' action, but if you take into account other factors, the 'obvious' answer doesn't seem so attractive or effective.
Just listen to this and think it through. Don't just instantly reply: If we all boycot games that are gimped on the PS4 then eventually the publishers responsible will make more money from the XB1. That will obviously lead to them focusing more heavily on the XB1 and it will eventually lead to the XB1 becoming the lead platform. In other words, it will only make matters worse.
The solution is to do the complete opposite. PS4 owners should keep buying these games and so keep on pushing up the PS4 install base. The aim of the game (so to speak) is to stretch the lead so wide that it becomes almost impossible for a company to justify the potential loss of revenue. MS would have to compensate them even more to hold onto parity. Once it reaches critical mass, developers will deem it pointless and want to compete once again.
They know that gamers expect improvements from one generation of games to another. They HAVE to improve each time they reiterate on a franchise.
The PS5 Exists.
