Thing is, we always expect Nintendo to "bring it", and then end up disappointed. This has happened so many times. It's the 8th gen now, and Nintendo have just embraced the Internet on their platforms, and in a way that's left a lot of people wanting. I can only hope they'll step up NEXT gen and mutha effin show us how it's done! Maybe it's time for them to copy Sony (instead of the other way around) and hire help from outside of Japan. |
Not living up to your promises gets you that.
But at the same time, Iwata really made a big deal out of this. I don`t think he spent all that time in his presentation for nothing.
Actually, his comments regarding the notion of platform and his other comments of handling both systems as brothers and how they should share software, to point out that he won't let people down on the matter.
Nintendo's main problem has been on the software side, where the no shortages promises have not been met.
In terms of how they handle the HW, i can't recall they promising something and not delivering.
Wii and DS had online play, they just didn't have an online shop and ability to patch/DLC. It is a big deal, but at least we got the most important part.
