@Bold: No, that's not the problem. @bold underline: that's the problem. PR idiocy. @italics: a predictable reaction to a stupid statement. You can't say "CPU bottleneck" and ALSO say "same res and fps to stop debate" and not have people call bullshit on the former because of the latter. One is a technical limitation requiring compromise, the other is a deliberate decision for non-technical reasons. It was a guaranteed shitstorm as soon as the Ubisoft guy opened his mouth and said those words. And of course the reality is likely to be Ubisoft having a crap game engine that does not use console resources efficiently. That game better have friggin' out of this world AI or so help them the fanboy rage is going to be worse than it is now if the AI is just ordinary, or heaven forbid substandard. |
I am not denying that Ubi did a very stupid PR move. They do a lot of stupid things.
All I'm suggesting is that if there is a CPU bottleneck and if it is true what all sources are indicating that the X1 CPU is stronger than the PS4 CPU, that the PS4 version is actually holding the game back and that it could run slightly better on the X1. Which means the X1 fans should be outraged and the PS fans should thank Ubi for not making them look even worse.
But in the end it's up to your own taste who and for what to blame.
You can hate Ubi for not properly programming the game or for straining the CPU with too many AIs in the first place.
Or you could hate the console manufacturers for going the cheap route with an APU.
Or you could hate yourself for not having enough money to build a powerful home PC.
But currently the hate is absolutely misdirected.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
