Discussions of the Wii U's power always get ugly, always.
... The Wii U's CPU is fairly capable, though, despite its lack of "cores/threads". Gauging the tech in the Wii U against the other current gen twins, core-for-core the Wii U's are likely more efficient being PPC, but since the twins have twice as many cores for games (six vs three), there's still more CPU power in them than the Wii U for games.
If anything, the Wii U's CPU would need to double its clockspeed to compete (which is not possible), but even then, it doesn't work quite like that, and 6 threads is still better at multi-tasking than 3. Wii U's cores are more powerful by way of efficiency, but there's not enough of them to make up the difference of the twins having twice as many.
