Why would Nintendo make another Console after so many failed attempts?

why would there software revenue be cut in half? think of it this way, wouldnt games like 3D World, Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8 have sold better and made more money if they had released on 3DS instead of Wii U?

Because both the 3DS and the Wii U (or the 4DS and the Wii 3 in next generation's case) each have a 3D Mario, 2D Mario, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart and Zelda. And I would put good money on a lot of people buying those games for both platforms this generation. If they have a hybrid console, the NH1, next generation there's no guarantee that every 3DS owner and every Wii U owner will buy the NH1, and even if they did Nintendo will lose out on the software revenue garnered from buying those games I listed on two platforms for the next generation.

There will be two "platforms". Maybe even three. Hell maybe even four. They will all just play the same games. Same way the iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch all share the same apps basically, even though these are seperate devices. 

Nintendo can make 2 Mario Karts per generation if they want under this setup (for example) or they can make their standard one Mario Kart and then put that dev team to work on making something new. Which might actually be refreshing and give them a shot at a new type of break out hit.
