I do like the Fusion idea, but if it was just going to be a standard console, I'd go with this:

- 6 Teraflop performance, 20nm GPU (AMD), 16GB RAM stackable memory

- New type of controller, not the central point of the console or expensive, but something a little new. Maybe a transforming or break-apart controller.

- No disc drive. Runs games from 3DS style cards (16, 32, and 64GB sizes). System is substantially smaller and quieter as a result.

- No licensing fees for third parties that make games for the first 9 months.

- Full virtual console with a full game library available from day 1.

- High speed Expansion Port/Link allows system to be upgraded in the future as easily.

- November 2016 launch. Should give Nintendo a full 2 years headstart, that would ensure a strong position against the PS5 no matter what.

I am not a fan on fusion only because it wold limit the console capability. Unless they can build some sort of engine to redo games on the fly scaled down to work on the handheld only device.

Overall close to what I want. Agree about replacing DVD drive. I rather go back to the old cart (well flash cards these days). That way the save files live on the game itself.

As for expansion. I rather they just have internal free slots. Or like previously mentioned in other threads go modular. so you can rip out one bit and replace it with another better bit (mobile phone makes are experimenting with this.

They could start with 2/3rd the specs you outlined release it cheap and then when PS5 launches release module updates bundled with some of their most wanted IPs.
