Without Final Fantasy's existence Square would've ceased to exist. They are living in the shadow of the formula saved the company in the first place (Sakaguchi's formula which they havent been able to work around since he left). This would be the second most daring project on the same franchise which saved square all those years ago.

Hum... No. Square-ENIX isn't on the verge of collapse and doesn't need to be saved. They're a big publisher now with a lot of franchises that sell well, including Dragon Quest, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy (even if some fans don't like the newer games, they are still selling well), Deus Ex, etc...

People like you don't seem to understand that Squaresoft isn't an entity anymore. 

I wasn't talking about Square Enix. He's right about it being an important project in the history of SE but the legacy is that of Square and not Square Enix hence why I went back to history. I also know that Square Enix is not on the verge of collapse. I was selling the value of Final Fantasies existence even amongst all of the franchises that Square Enix own and its history of risk entwined. Square Enix know nothing of the glory days. My point was the shadow of Sakaguchi...which has been a dark cloud over the development for Final Fantasy since he left (The Square formula which haunts Square Enix). I'm sure you've seen Lost Odyssey, the man still uses it and has succeeded to greater effect gameplay-wise than any other final fantasy in the last gen no matter while style he used. Final Fantasy's new steps need to be dealt with surgically in order to take it into the new world outside of its past. I'm actually speaking in the manner of liberating it. Its optimism.
