Some of you are too hard on Pachter. Given the data at hand at the time he creates his theories, they are not bad. It's just that he, as well as nearly all of the rest of the industry, completely got broadsided by Wii. His more recent thoughts have not been too far off what most of us on this site state everyday.
Either way, I think too many of you are against him just because he is an analyst. It happens all the time. Did you guys read the comments under TheSource's analysis that was on digg? We all respect TheSource and think he has a good understanding, yet, on digg the comments sound like the same stuff you read here about Pachter.
Also, I, as well as more and more industry analyst all, all see vgchartz as a highly regarded source for sales data. Easier to access and digest than what you get from NPD as well.
