It's very obvious as to why it has low sales. Small library, no ads, bad name, no audience beyond Nintendo fans.

All in all though, I'm confident that even sales can pick up. It's still $300 after all.

Wii and ds i guess didn't have a price cut until the 4th years and it's sale was so amazing i don't think price is a big reason for why it sell not a lot

I think price is the main reason why it is not selling that well at this moment. Why? Well, to answer that let's try to break down who might be Wii U's main audience. And I think that audience could tentatively be divided in:

1) Nintendo Hardcore fans

2) New gamers (or parents who are looking to buy an affordable/family friendly console for their kids)

3) Wii owners/Non Nintendo Harcore fans. Here we have all of those (now adolescent) kids that got the Wiis from their parents last gen, but who are now old enough to decide what they want to play.

4) Dedicated gamers (here we have all those people who ALWAYS buy more than one platform and who might see Nintendo's consoles as the perfect secondary consoles because of their exclusives)

Now, obviously members of the first group don't have a problem with the price tag because they see Nintendo's first party games and think that those games more than justify that price tag.

BUT the problems begin when you try to convince members of the remaining three groups.

So I think the biggest enemies of the Wii U at this point are the PS360. They are cheaper options, they have 8 years worth of games, and nowadays you can find plenty of family friendly games there (not to mention the fact that many kids nowadays dont want family friendly consoles).

So, all in all, I can totally see why a lot of people from the last 3 groups can opt to go for the PS360 instead, at least for the moment. Now, could a more affordable price be able to make them change their minds? well, at least that would be one less obstacle.
