Pokemon: Why is there only 1 save file?

I don't think anyone means being able to save one game in multiple different files, more being able to create more then one profiles like Zelda. 

*shrug* you could still do minor exploits. Infinite starters. Infinite event Pokemon.

You can sort of do this kind of thing already thanks to Pokemon Bank, but that's a brand new service and it isn't available to everyone.
