That's probably a good reason for why it started like that, but surely that's not still an issue? Especially with the downloadable versions of the current games or especially the home console games.

Well... Downloadable versions still has to comply with the rules of the cartrige versions or else the downloadable versions will have an advantage over the cartrige version. (And a really big one at that imo)

Idk whats with the console versions though. Maybe the save files are too big and there is a restriction on the size that each save file can have per game on the console and saving all the pokemon u catch and etc adds up or something. Again, I am just presuming its the case, idk for sure
