Yep, but we'll never have any conparative SW information that's more accurate to talk about. So either we don't talk at all about software sales or we take the numbers at face value and base our discussions on that objective, albeit inaccurate, information. We have $325M sellthrough from somewhere divide by 60 = 5.4 million. But that's a terribly inaccurate figure because in lots of countries games cost a lot more than $60US equivalent. So VGC's 4.4 million estimate does not seem unreasonable. But we have no idea of the breakdown. Has anyone actually announced sales ratios globally? |
I have nothing against the total estimative, since the sellthrough and average price WW is acceptable (and the sellthrough announced have digital sales as well, that could be anything from 10 to 30%), and with the upgrade plan for free on digital they probably had good sales on it.
But the breaktrough giving exactly the same proportion of total HW isn't a talking point because it isn't that the game have that breakthrough, just that VGC in lack of better precise numbers just gave the aproximate ratio of HW as SW... and that wouldn't make sense since we had the exclusive marketing AND BUNDLE, look at WD for comparison. X1 free SW promotion and their history of shooters on xboxes may offset some of the marketing on PS4, but I don't think it make it basically useless.
