Thanks, I thought MS would issue a rebuttal as this story was being picked up by other news outlets.
So MS sold over 21,000 Australian 360s in Q1 2008, for reference they sold 20,000 in Q1 2007, so clearly this article is pretty stupid, they've actually sold more 360s this year than last. In New Zealand they sold around 3,000 in Q1 2008, compared to 3,070 in Q1 2007, so pretty similar. It does confirm that MSNZ's claim of "approaching 50,000" in NZ was slightly misleading, and must have referred to shipped units.
I notice some discussing Gamecube, so I'll post some LTDs:
PS2: 2,200,000+* (Q4 2007)
NDS: 988,168 (Q4 2007)
XBX: 838,410 (Q3 2006)
PSP: 362,000+* (Q4 2007)
360: 320,000 (Q1 2008)
Wii: 293,000 (Q4 2007) [Passed 300k in Jan]
NGC: 162,936 (Q3 2006)
PS3: 155,000** (Q4 2007)
SDC: 24,727 (Q3 2006) [Final LTD]
*PS2 & PSP are missing first 7 weeks of Q4 2007 data.
** PS3 does not include around 30,000 units which were "given away" with Bravia TVs in a promotion.
All figures GfK Australia.
