Valiant Hearts, Child of light, or any mature game can find a decent audience on the Wii U (especially the eshop, according to their demographics http://wiiudaily.com/2014/08/interesting-wii-u-eshop-details-revealed-at-unite-2014/ ) IF they are made well with the hardware in mind and with sufficient advertisement. |
The sales were not satisfactory to Ubisoft, that much I know. The people can be older, that does not mean that they are looking for mature rated games or even plot driven games, and there is little evidence to prove the contrary, biggest third party game on the console, a mature rated game, also an exclusive, well advertised and constantly bundled title that reached a little less than 10% attach rate and not even close to 1 million sales.
Compare it to the competition, in the case of PS4, the 4 out of 5 best seller games are multi-platform, all reached 20% attach rate, and one of those is indeed the very same game that "nobody" wants to buy on the WiiU, now lets go to Xbox One, even with a smaller install base, almost every game released for it by third parties have sold way higher that the same version on Nintendo's console.
So a third party has to create an exclusive title (with higher financial risk), and even then most likely it will not reach the same numbers as a multiplatform title in 1 of the other 2 consoles, much less both combined? (I am not including PS3 or 360 because... really the numbers will only look worse)
