Well don't worry about the Japan numbers too much Starcraft....PS3 ain't doing great there lately either.
I think I would disagree on the hardcoreness of LBP, if they give it a very easy to use interface then it could be one of the most casual games on the PS3. You have to remember that making your own levels is one part of the game, but you can also spend your time playing through the single player they made with your friends or by yourself, and then play through all the levels other people have made. Of course I'm just interpreting it that way because I'm a Sony fan and want it to work out for the best ^^
