No I am saying both of you are wrong, for different reasons.
Anecdotal evidence is bad, anecdotal evidence as per the forums relating to this game just so happens to correspond to the general review response to the game. That doesn't make using it anymore wrong but it so happens to actually be in tune with reality this time around.
Anyone who thinks that the game is being showered with praise, conversely, is not only using bad anecdotal evidence and seeking confirmation bias, they are living in a different dimension where some other game launched. Destiny has not received good press nor did it make a good impression out the gate, that is something that will stick with it to the end of its gamelife.
CoD sells because it is an established multiplayer franchise that does what it does, and people expect it to do what it has always done. Reviews don't generally play a part because people aren't discussing its merits or otherwise, they are simply saying "Getting the next CoD to play on Live/PS+?" "Ya, you?" "Yup!". In fact, when it releases and when MCC release, I can see Destiny becoming a barren wasteland because the PvP is the only thing holding up the flimsy excuse for a game that it is.
