They believe that they same thing could happen in real life that people would just infect each other on purpose.
I wouldn't release a virus to kill people, but if I was infected, as much as I hate to say it but chances are I would infect people on purpose and you guys would probably do the same thing too. | I see that kind of behavior as akin to "griefing", especially since it was pretty much certain death for noobs but only a major annoyance for high level players if news reports did not misinform.
If you found out you had HIV, you seriously would go out and have lots of unprotected sex? | The truth is that happens, you hear all the time of people purposley passing on STIs and HIV. I think if you knew the end was coming you don't want to be the only sufferer... especially if you had been screwed over in some way by other people you wouldn't think logically anymore. It would cross a lot of peoples minds to go to your worst enemies house and cough in their face. |
Um ... as seen in my link? So yes, there are people who would do that, but AIDS is a special case, with a HUGE amount of time between infection and symptoms, and usually much longer until death. From what I've heard, many STDs are similar -- a very long period of functionality while infectious. Most diseases don't give you that much time to get over the shock and panic and hope for recovery and all the rest of it. You recover, or you die, and either way you stop infecting people. There would definitely be some crazy people out to spread the plague, or complete amoral assholes who just don't care, but it would be a LOT less common than griefers on the Internet, which are EVERYWHERE.
