Just look at the weekly world charts for games. The PS3 has high weeks (DMC4, GT5 demo and the week Army of Two, Rainbow Six and another PS3 hit). Other weeks, it's getting thumped by 2-1 by the 360. What I am saying is - you'll see more PS3 sales but what if the attach numbers are staying the same? Don't forget - some folks buying the games were already PS3 owners too.

If you don't believe me about the Blu sales, look at the rising number of Blu movie sales. And I don't have numbers, the PS3 is the best value. I would be hard pressed to see data that states folks are buying PS3s and tons of games.

Actually I looked at the software sales for each week, and I saw that there was a pretty consistent ratio of 1.5 to 1, software sales for 360 to PS3, which goes along well with the install base ratio of the two.  This ratio only seemed to show a drastic change based on new releases for one or the other console.

As the installed base for a console increases the percentage of users that buy a particular game decreases.  That's why the PS2 didn't have any games that sold to 25% or 30% of it's installed base like the Xbox and Gamecube did.  The fact that the 360 has a ratio that is close to the ratio of the 360 and PS3 installed bases is pretty amazing when you take that into account.  For whatever reason the PS3 is simply not moving as much software as it should be.
