XV. Attack button, defensive stand button, warping button, jumping button. The rest of buttons is used to navigate the menu for the following purposes: controlling a party member, summons, and maybe additional skills.

Which one's the jumping button?

It's not just about how many buttons are utilized anyway. The way the game is described is that you have to hold down the buttons to combo (otherwise you're doing single actions), and the weapons are chosen for you. Instead they should've made it so you can control the combo like any other action game, and allow you to switch between weapons manually while considering the pros and cons of each one (regular sword for quick strikes, big sword for slow strikes that can break guards, etc.).

I only jumped and mashed attack. I never once guarded in any KH game ever.

I have no idea what shotlock, reality shift, and link attacks are.

The guards in KH1 and 2 aren't so great (in 2 I relied on Reflect), but they improved the guard in KH2 FM+.

Shotlock is in BBS, RS and LA are in DDD.

This may just be for Noctis specifically based on trailers we've seen (I didn't notice anybody else using a different weapon out of nowhere).  You can have just one weapon equipped if you want from the sounds of it.  There's still a lot we don't know about the deck.   I don't think this is good or bad, it's just intriguing so far.  There may be a cost to the deck as well and I doubt we'd have so many slots initially for the deck.
