People are jumping the shark a little too much about how good this actually is. Also based on the TGS 2014 and E3 2013 trailers/demos it's clearly obvious that you can switch between characters. Like someone else said, Tabata is not good at PR.

Edit: Bad I mean :P  I mean it's not good or bad it more or less just IS right now.


TBF the Japanese definition of casual is probably a good thing. Although it's important to look at the specifics of the game mechanics in 15. FF7-10 can easily be considered the most casual FF games but they're the most liked string of FF games by both hardcore and casual fans.

That being said it, it's a very good idea to be able to just hold down certain button instead of rapidly pressing them. You'll have to release them sooner or later anyways to not get hit or if you want to end the battle faster use a more effective attack/combo/magic/summon etc.

It's also important to keep in mind that you probably can't dodge ALL attacks like area attacks or maybe even magic attacks. Plus if you're the only one dodging, your party members are getting damaged over time and you will probably need them in order to finish some battles for combo uses.
