Well... The whole unification into one console is a bad concept/idea imo cause if its fails, they are royally fucked. Like for example, right now, the wiiU is selling terribly but the 3ds is selling very nicely so it evens out the losses. (Obviously not like even even but you get what I mean) Vs, if they have one device and it fails, well, for the next 5 years, they will not be making any money at all which is really bad. Sure, you could say, oh, one platform = more games and that is a valid point but it also results in higher risk cause if the platform isn't appealing, then good luck. Specially since that if you make it a portable console, like a tablet, well, it will be very underpowered compared to the ps5/x2 just cause it wont have the power requirement. And if you make it a console, well then u have places like Japan where they seem to hate buying consoles. (Those are just examples btw, there are many other reasons as well) What they should do instead is do what they have always been doing and just do a console & handheld. The only difference this time around should be that they are the same architecture, just the handheld version will be lower powered that way, all they should really have to do in order to port it is have lower graphics and there shouldnt really be that much recoding involved and this way, they dont have to rely on one SKU to be a success |
Jizz that was well said ...I agree with you 100 percent ....release a home and handheld with the same architecture (alas Apple)but have curtain games made for home console and certain for handheld ( like Pokemon )...this would speed up release times for games because you can work on both systems at once (alas Smash and Sonic )
