Bayonetta 2 was costed 25 million. The game cost 60$, but only half of price will be to Nintendo. I predict that the game will sell 500,000 this year, so, 30x500,000= 15 million. Will sell othe 500,000-700,000 with a price of 40$ first 2-3 year, and less than 30€ after 4-5 year. So, i think that the game can make other 10 million for a total of 25 million. |
I don't think it will hit even 500k LTD.
It doesn't really matter if it breaks even or not, Nintendo has more than enough money for this to be a non-issue.
When they greenlit Bayo 2 that was before the Wii U launched and obviously they were expecting a userbase probably at least half of the original Wii (around 50 million), they weren't anticipating the console itself being a flop, which it has been.
I think Nintendo almost partly finances a lot of these games as a sense of civic duty to the Japanese game development community as it were ... I think they know part of the time anyway that these games aren't going to break even. They can't seriously think Devil's Third for example is going to sell a lot, but I think they did it because Itagaki is well known Japanese designer who was down on his luck and Nintendo decided to throw him a few bucks so he could finish his game.
