I think part of it has to do with exclusive deals with other retailers as well.

With regard to Kinect, it may be a move towards discontinuing Kinect entirely. Amazon is something of a last-destination clearinghouse for a lot of retail items. So, if there's none left on Amazon, there might as well be no more Kinect SKUs shipped any longer.
