I think with PS3/360 we reached a point where 3D graphics look "good enough" to a lot of people. Yes you can improve on them for sure, but it's just a certain point where those graphics will still look acceptable.
It's kinda like 2D graphics and say something like Street Fighter III, which is now 14+ years old ... it still looks good, but that's like 4th gen 2D.
