Kislyi Kart: World of Tanks is getting a limited-time-only race mode
Tracked vehicles are designed and built for very particular tasks, but goshdarnit if Wargaming aren’t determined to use them for every possible purpose. There’s a persistent games industry rumour that CEO Victor Kislyi takes an Aufklärungspanzer Panther to the supermarket. And he's greenlit this: a rally racing mode for bulky online shooter World of Tanks.
Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain footage starts with horseplay, ends in flames
Today’s Metal Gear Solid 5 footage comes direct from the Tokyo Game Show. As such, only the Japanese-speakers among us will benefit from the developer commentary.
It’s hard to imagine any amount of commentary could explain the sight of a horse, strapped to a parachute, pinging high into the air. Or a spy climbing into a cardboard box to change his clothes. Or smokes that last for two days. But no language barrier will prevent us from enjoying every last bonkers bit of it.
League of Legends Worlds 2014 begins; Riot make a hyper-cool cartoon for the occasion
League of Legends Worlds begins today - the final leg of a year’s competitive lane-scuffling. Hosted in Singapore, this weekend’s group stages will feature teams from all over the world - and the best will be catching planes to Taiwan and Busan, South Korea before the grand finals in Seoul in October.
Riot Games have put together a cartoon fit to inaugurate this border-crossing, career-culminating melodrama, and they’ve called it ‘Warriors’. Have a watch: it is good.
Crusader Kings 2's one million players average 99 hours of playtime
When Crusader Kings II launched in early 2012, I’d be surprised if anyone anticipated just how damn popular it would become. Paradox’s grand strategy titles had a strong following, but were niche, and the original Crusader Kings - despite being pretty damn unique - didn’t make much of a splash.
Today, the Swedish publisher has revealed just how popular it's become. Crusader Kings II has been purchased over a million times. That’s a lot of people murdering their spouses and conquering the medieval world.
Final Fantasy XIII lands on PC in October, with the sequels coming next spring
Final Fantasy continues to invade Steam. Yesterday, Final Fantasy IV appeared, sneaking on there with little warning, and now a much more recent installment in the venerable JRPG series is making its way onto PC through the platform.
It’s Final Fantasy XIII.
