Is Nintendo's "Family/Kids First" Console Formula Simply Doomed To Fail?

I don't think its doom, it's just Nintendo playing to their natural strength. Every now and then, it works insanely well.

I do believe they sort-of realize they'd be more successful if the had stronger 'mature' appeal. Children follow what the 'older kids' are into. But they should have done that by promoting AC, Batman, and CoD on their home console rather than moneyhatting Devil's Third.
