If you go to www.consumerreports.com or get a copy from barnes and noble and it will show that LCD hdtv's(SONY or SAMSUNG) is the top rated type hd tv to own. So i don't know where you get your info from. It costs way less to fix a lcd hd tv than a plasma hd tv if it needs repair,also.
