Because the Wii actually has an analog stick, and enough buttons to make it work. I would suppose you'd move with the analog stick, control the camera with the D-Pad on the Wii-mote, you would use the 1 and 2 buttons to scroll through your items, and use C to activate them, Z to center the camera behind you, and A and B, and whatever motion controls are tacked on to attack, I suppose that how it could work, and that doesn't seem too hard.

With the DS, you can only use either the D-Pad and the Touch screen, or the touch screen and the Face buttons [or the D-pad and the face buttons], which would only mean that you would only be able to move, and you'd have no way to manipulate the camera, which would be EXTREMELY awkward.

What about the shoulder buttons?

If your argument is because of controls I find it to be pretty weak to be honest.

Now if you had said it already works on the PSP and they are making money out of it so why should they change the forumla, that would've been a valid (and true in my opinion) argument.

Go and play the game on the PSP, then come back and tell me that the game could work on the DS.

TRUST ME...  Speaking as the only person who has sank over 100 hours into MHF and MHF2, this game WOULD NOT control on the DS.  It just wouldn't.  Period.  That's just being real.

If you played the game, you would know what I'm talking about.

And your argument is pretty weak.  So controls don't make a bad game?  Ask LAIR.
