Sakurai is a very honest man. And the absence of the Ice Climbers explains a lot of the character choices in the game. Hopefully, if they're to do this again (versions for handheld and console), they'll make sure it's powerful enough to not have this limitation.
In case you didn't know, I have a comic book called Guardians. I'm the writer/creator of it, and we have four issues out right now, with our fifth coming out soon!
