honestly, once you beat the story line you will only be doing one story mission a day tops. The "Story" mode in the game is mearly a means to slowly open up the solar system to you.

Which brings me to a though, would they have been better off just opening up the whole game from the start? Lets you pick missions that feed into a bigger story, but not having a traditional linear story? Oh well, the foundation has been set, I am curious to see where they go with it from here. But again, the story is just a small part of the game (Like Diablo in that sense) my point was it should not be weighted so heavily into the score.

In a reverse situation it would have been like reviewers torching Tomb Raider (2013) for it shitty multiplayer. Reviewers factored that in, but it was very minor. That was a great game even though it had mediocre at best multiplayer, Destiny is a great game even though the story is weak.

Games become a masterpiece when they get it all right (like The Last of Us which has an amazing solo adventure and addicting multiplayer, oh but that has not stopped me from enjoying Destiny more than TLOU:R even though TLOU:R is a better game)

Yeah, the story missions are just a means of opening up the solar system. God forbid they made something actually enjoyable.

The story wasn't a small part of Diablo III. It gives a task and motivated me to reach the end.  In Destiny... I'm just running around killing things to level up. There is nothing really motivating me to reach the end Destiny's story, its boring.

Here's the thing about Tomb Raider. It had an amazing campaign and the multiplayer was just there. In Destiny, the campaign sucks, the gameplay is tedious, and PvP is just okay. As a whole, Destiny is a lackluster product.

Oh to clarify the story if only boring if you solo it. It is pretty fun co-op. The Strikes are alot of fun and offer something no other FPS does. PvP is very fun, once you learn how to play you class the depth in PvP really shows.

Destiny's main problem is people dont know how to account for the total package. Reviewer 1 Crucible is alot of fun,  but CoD offer more depth there. Rewiever 2 The story is weak, Mass Effect beats it there. Reviwer 3 Explore more needs more to do Fallout has more to do. Get my point.

Reviewer 1- Fails to mention CoD lacks only co-op (well besides Nazi Zombies) and too had a poor story mode.

Reviewer 2- Fails to mention the gunplay in Mass Effect is terrible and there is no multi, but yes the "world" is more defined.

Reviewer 3- Same as 2.

They seem to be reviewing each aspect of the game against games that only do one thing but are great at it.  They are not consider that Destiny is the best total package for a FPS to date. If I just want RPG story I play ME, if I just want PvP I do CoD or Halo, but what if I want both. The fact Destiny seemlessly weaves this together is a big plus.
