Of course its liberating. MS would've made them make nothing but Halo for their rest of their natural lives. MS doesn't believe in creativity if there arent dollar signs attached to it.

What would you expect? It's the most successful horse in the stable. It's as if Sony would tell Polyphony to not let them make another Gran Turismo.

Thats more akin to Turn 10 than Bungie. Polyphony much like Turn 10 was developed internally akin to 343 whom was designed ONLY to work on Halo. They all only work on one franchise. Microsoft wanted Bungies services and bought away from Apple to get exclusive rights to the IP of Halo. Obviously they did not make their intentions for a creative company such as Bungie 100% clear.

MS was the same way with Halo and Bungie as they are with Epic and Gears (a third party publisher with games of their own to publish and develop). They wanted Epic to keep making the game. It had to be sold to get Microsoft off of their backs. Now Epic can make newer games and perhaps they might be better, but at least next gen will be fresher and breed new ideas. This is a huge problem with Microsoft. Epic even said they wanted to focus on making a PC game once more. Based on sales its the perfect time to make a PC exclusive. Lets just see if Microsoft allows it to stay exclusive. LOL
