It isn't easy and I'm more than happy that I don't have to make that decision. But IS, for some reason, have unlimited Money. All hell broke loose in the middle east with the IS killing People in the Name of Allah. The NATO as well as the UN don't want to let such crimes against humanity happen. Problem is, besides the US, most of the NATO countries are pretty much defenseless. They didn't need their armies in the last few decades so they abandoned them. So in situations like these, they just do nothing, because they aren't able to. But that's some Bad Publicity, so they go ahead and tell people they do nothing because Peace and Shit.
Only the US with their massive Army remains to help other countries in situations like these. Remember that a number of States actually asked the US for help in the fight against IS. Even Saudi-Arabia is ok with it, although a little skeptical. And yes, I do remember the Iraq war of George Bush. He had no right to do it and it may have led to the rise of IS. But that's not a reason to do nothing now. If you mess up somewhere, you should at least clean up the mess you have caused.
The World is pretty big and there will always be conflicts. Sometimes an intervention of a superpower is neccessary to prevent worse things to happen. I'm not the greatest Fan of US politics, there are more than enough reasons to criticise them. But especially as a German, I'm also happy they freed Europe in WW2. Who knows what would have happened otherwise with crazy dictators like Stalin and Hitler.
So in the end, not everything the US does is Bad. There is no black and white in politics. You mustn't say "I hate everything the US does, no matter what it is". Such fanboyism is ok in Forums, it's getting on your nerves every now and them, but sometimes it's also funny. In politics, however, such a behavior becomes very very dangerous. Blind hate leads to Fascism and war. In the real world you should never prejudge People too quick, no matter where they come from and what they do. Only if we are able to understand each other, there might be a chance that we all can live peacefully together sometime in the future.
Pacifism is also not the answer to everything. It worked for Ghandi, but I can garantuee you that the IS wouldn't give a Single fuck about some people starving to death or something. Ghandi fought against relatively modern People. The IS are fanatics, they don't even think too much. They just do what their Leaders tell them and those Leaders refer to an old book that they misinterpret all the Time. At least I don't remember the Koran saying killing people is cool.
