Well at least Nintendo would actually have a real online network and appeal to more than the casual/kid audience.  

But who knows, had this deal gone through we might not have Halo.

They would've had Halo as well. Without buying Bungie away from Apple Microsofts entrance into the gaming industry would've been pointless. It would've been just another purchased ontop of purchases to keep their relevance up. 

Think about it. Bungie -> Rare -> Kinect -> Gears -> and I believe the makers of Minecraft now. They just buy everything. Microsofts ability to create is slim.
