$2.5 billion is quite excessive and Minecraft definitely is not worth that much. The deal won't do anything other than the fact that some of the money will go to MS for each sale. So, the Playstation versions of Minecraft won't go away because they sell really well and MS does not want to miss out on any good opportunity to earn more money. The strategy is smart, but the amount of money MS is paying to acquire Minecraft is not.
