Because it's not a good deal financially, and it doesn't give Xbox owners anything they don't already have.

ms got a shit ton of money offshore they need to invest out of the usa to avoid tax penalties

this game can easily generate a return of investment.

its not even 3 years old.

not even peaked, becaus current gen realse is right now and mobile release not a long time ago.

minecraft via windows store for win 8 / 9

finally minecraft for winows phone

all marketing will be xbox and windows

this deal was not done to benefit xbox owners. it was done to benefit microsoft. or did the xbox owner payed the 2.5 billion dollar bill?

but it will benefit them, too. strong ips and a stronger platform will help to keep third party support etc.

and now ms got all freedom to do whatever they want to make this game a better experience on xbox (ofc this could go good or bad)

MS got a shit ton of moneu so they should just waste it? No it can not easily generate a return on the investment. It will have to sell at the same rate as it is now to break even in 17-20 years, and if we add extra sales from PS4/Xbox One, and asuming that it doesn't decrease for anything else for the next decade and a half, then they'll make their money back in "just" ~12-15 years.
